The band members, influenced by the film The Young Ones which featured Cliff Richard and The Shadows, named the band Siluete. The band had their first bigger performance on Đorđe Marjanović's concert in Dom sindikata. After performances in Makarska during the summer of 1963, the members of Siluete departed. Simjanović moved to Elipse, Gluščević and Miščević formed Lutalice with guitarist Božidar "Lari" Plesničar and rhythm guitarist Slobodan Mihajlović, and Ilić continued to lead Siluete in the new lineup: Dejan Dunjić (bass guitar), Jovan Mišević (drums), Miomir "Kraka" Petrović (rhythm guitar) and Ljuba Đorđević (keyboard). Internationally also known as Dubrovnic Troubadours or The Troubadours Of Dubrovnik, they enjoyed brief popularity across Western Europe having appeared at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest in London. Their song "Jedan dan" was performed by their singers Luciano Kapurso and Hamo Hajdarhodžić and it scored 7th position. DELFINI - Noćas kad si otišla (1966) EP

Slika
When it comes to 60's, there was thousands of rock'n'roll and garage bands all over Yugoslavia. However, only a very few bands made any records. This is the story of a band which recorded perhaps the most exciting garage rock EP in the 60's. Their name is DELFINI and they come from Zagreb. Several students with a professional singer Zdenko Juran formed Delfini in 1963. They played together for several years until record label Jugoton cut them a deal and published their first EP record. Their energy and creativity especially unleashed in an explosive James Brown cover "I'll Go Crasy". However, the real highlight is an addictive blues version of the Macedonian folk song "Kaleš bre Anđo" , with an amazing keyboard solo by Petko Kantardžijev. Nikola Sarapa also delivered a fine guitar work. Much later in his career, Sarapa had an excellent hard rock band called Stop mostly based on Jimmy Hendrix covers. Unfortunately, the EP was also the end of Del…

BELE VRANE - Uspešnice (1967-1970)

Slika
BELEVRANE from Slovenia (ex-Yugoslavia) were very good and influential late 1960s vocal group from Ljubljana who followed mellow pop sound of Mamas and Papas. The fact that slovenian dialect limited their succes in Ex Yu to local Slovenian borders is not really important because for me they were absolutely on the top with the best. At the beginning of 1960s there were few artists who started with rock in Ex Yu and second generation followed shortly afterwards, without exception young urban musicians (mostly students who followed Radio-Luxembourg and its famous pop charts) - in Sarajevo there were "Indexi", in Zagreb "Grupa 220" and "Zlatni Akordi", in Ljubljana "Bele Vrane". From today's perspective this music is still very enjoyable, lots of sunny pop and beautiful harmonies - its only pity that excellent Ditka Haberl (who really had one of the best voices in Ex Yu ever) got only one solo spot ("Običajno popoldne" and guys selfish…
